Mindfulness Meditation
“Paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgementally”. - Jon Kabat-Zinn
We spend much of our lives on auto-pilot, doing things without thinking. Our thoughts can get stuck on repeat - churning things over from the past, or worrying about what might happen in the future. Yet the only moment we truly have is the one that we’re in just now.
Mindfulness is a skill we can cultivate. We can learn to pay attention - to place our focus somewhere we have chosen, to come back to the present moment. And when we pay attention in this way, we bring attitudes of curiosity and acceptance- a sense of being non-judgmental.
Benefits of Mindfulness
When we embrace mindfulness, it enhances our well-being and overall satisfaction with life.
Mindfulness can effectively reduce stress, ease depression and anxiety, while improving our ability to manage overwhelming feelings. Additionally, it enhances physical health by aiding chronic pain management, promoting better sleep, and even contributing to heart health.
Mindfulness encourages active engagement in daily life, deeper connections with loved ones, and a reduced tendency to dwell on the past or worry about the future.
