An Introduction to Shibashi Qi Gong: 5-Week Course - Bonnybridge

This is an introductory course for the Shibashi Qi Gong movements. Shibashi translates to "18" in Mandarin, as there are 18 moves that make up this set. Although this particular set was created in the 1980's, Qi Gong is an ancient practice which combines breathing techniques with physical exercises.

Qi Gong can be used as a complementary treatment for various common ailments. The Shibashi set is said to relieve shoulder and back pain and improve blood circulation. Practising Qi Gong can help to improve overall health and wellbeing and reduces mental and physical stress.

In this 5-week course we;ll learn a series of 5 element flows, when we practice with all five elements it brings a sense of balance to the body and mind. Although Qi Gong is usually practised from a standing position, all of these moves can be adapted to do from a chair.

Meet Your Facilitator:

Susie will be your facilitator for these sessions. Susie worked as a Social Worker within Criminal Justice for 20 years, and is passionate about helping people to make difficult changes. Since the beginning of 2017, Susie has been delivering mindfulness within her local community in Falkirk. She co-founded Pause & Breathe CIC with her husband, Phil Blackburn and is delighted to have opened The Place to Pause & Breathe in Bonnybridge and The Place for Martial Arts & Wellbeing in Bo'ness - bringing people together in community. Susie is a Mindfulness Coach and a certified Daring to Rest Facilitator. She is qualified to teach Qi Gong and Chair Yoga. Her approach is trauma-sensitive, and she is an advocate of giving participants choice in everything she offers.
