Managing Change
Welcome to March, and the introduction of our new topic – “Managing Change”.
My Journey into Rest
Hard work pays off, and I am delighted to announce that after training for one year of training, I am a Daring to Rest Facilitator. However, my journey towards this has not always been straightforward!
How Self-Compassion Can Lead to Self-Love
Self-love can often feel very far away - unachievable. But one of the things that can help us journey toward it is self-compassion. This has felt like such an important part of my mindfulness journey and is something I love sharing with others. Simply being kinder to ourselves can help us like (and love) ourselves more. But why would that be?
Blue Monday: Is it the ‘most depressing day’ of the year?
Did you know that on Monday 16th January it’s Blue Monday?
What’s ‘Blue Monday’, I hear you ask. Well, the theory goes that this time of year we experience low mood – it’s cold, it’s dark, we’re riddled with guilt due to our failed New Year Resolutions. Blue Monday is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. Even just reading this, perhaps you feel a little lower than you did before. But maybe Blue Monday is just a concept - maybe it’s not real.
A Guide to Rest
We’re living in a time where many of us have completely forgotten how to rest. People are wondering why they are feeling tired, exhausted and getting burnt out, when really that’s just our bodies telling us we need to slow down. We can sometimes feel like there is something wrong with us or that we just need to do something differently when, really, it’s our bodies and our hearts and minds doing what they are supposed to do and letting us know what we need.
Taking Time Out: Blog
Winter for me is the time to cosy-in, to snuggle down and wait for Spring. That doesn’t mean I think we should just do nothing (although doing nothing is a lovely thing to do!). It’s a great time for reflection.
Relaxation & Reflection: Blog
As we move into December, our theme changes to “Relaxation and Reflection”. It’s the end of the year, when often our energy is a little bit lower.
Letting Go of 2021 – A Mindful Writing Practice.
This mindful writing practice has been taken from a workshop in The Heart Movement Community, lead by facilitator, singer and song writer Joe Holtaway.
November – Forgiveness & Letting Go
In November we focused on he topics of forgiveness and letting go. Autumn often makes us think about letting go.
Procrastination
Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing a task or set of tasks. Human beings have been procrastinating for centuries (probably forever). But it’s OK to put things off, to not be full of energy and motivation to make significant changes – particularly just now.
Prosperity
We tend to think that prosperity is all about money and wealth but there are a multitude of definitions: “a state of health, happiness”, “to do well, to succeed”, “the condition of being successful”. True prosperity is as much about wellbeing as it is wealth. And is wealth all about money? Can we be wealthy in different ways?
Balance
Balance = an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady. But is weight ever evenly distributed? Sometimes it feels like everything is constantly in flux and it's a battle to keep up, so it's important to remember that we still need to stop and rest even (and perhaps especially) in these strange times.
Spring Energy
There's something inherently uplifting about Spring - it represents new beginnings and rebirth. Spring is the time to take up new habits because we literally feel we have more time in the day as daylight is more prevalent.
Turning Towards
As we climb out of winter and start to see more natural light with longer days, it's a great time for reflection on how you'd like life to look this year. I like the idea of turning towards something - it feels softer than goal-setting, and is positive - we're moving in the direction that we want to go.
